Especially poignant and touching to me is the fact that it's a military cover of the song. The song is brilliant in that it's neither anti-war, no jingoistic. It's simply the sad tale of the cost of war for the narrator, and millions like him. "And the young people ask, what are they marching for? And I ask myself the same question"

Absolutely beautifully sung, I'm a New Zealander and I thank all that are and have served in the Australian & NZ army.

An iconic song sung by an Aussie icon John Farnham, but again played by this band and it sounded amazing, thank you for that performance.

Wow what a voice, beautifully sung. I like John Farnham singing this song personally I think he has the greatest voice I've heard. Well done to the whole band, thank you.

This might be a bit sketch to comment "We made a cover of this" But I'm quite proud of how we interpreted this song and expressed it our own way.. Anyway, it's on our channel if you want to have a listen :-)

The voice of an Angel

It's a bit odd to hear the character of an old man sung in such a wonderful voice of a young woman -- so simply and so well -- but you also have to respect an armed force which publishes one of the most powerful of antiwar songs.

Welcome home to all Vietnam vets. What you went through would break a lesser soul. My husband did three tours in Vietnam and they took their toll on his body and spirit. For lost mates and shattered dreams. But he served with honor and was honor bound to serve. That's just the way he was every day of his life until God called him Home. Your sacrifice was not in vain. You answered a call and shame on those who failed to honor their promises to you -- To care for your broken bodies and spirits. Welcome home and thank you.

Lookin at the video suggests that they havent a clue what theyre singing. The song is about one of the biggest fuckups in british military history.Hardly somethin to be proud of. If anythin, gthe message of the song should be enough to put anyone off joining the army, not parading its colours.
